Do you just like having fun and planning parties? Or are you a caterer, where your income is dependent on the success of the event you are catering? No matter what your answer is, you can make all of your events a smash hit by following these 3 simple tips:

Have plenty of tableware on hand

It is important not to run of plates, cups, napkins for silverware. Food and fun go hand in hand. Plus, it is so embarrassing when a guest wants a drink and your out of cups. Or say you have a plate for the guest but no fork. So these basic rules of purchasing can help you not be embarrassed at your next event. As far as how many cups you may need, for disposable it is best to have 3 cups person on hand. The cups are not that expensive and if you have extra you can use them for another event. As for how many plates, napkins, forks, knives, and spoons you may need. A good rule is taking the number of guests and multiply by 1.25 this should leave you with plenty. Unless you are serving hundreds. Then you might want to take the number of guests and multiply the plates by 1.5. People tend to throw the plates away and get a new one a little more often. If you are supplying glassware and china then you might want to have an additional 5% on hand, that generally is plenty.

Cover your tables.

A room of uncovered tables looks so incomplete and in disarray. Even if you just simply go to party store Toronto and purchase a roll or two of banquet table covering. It will make a world of difference in your presentation. How much do I need you may ask? Well follow this simple calculation:

  • Rectangular table: Measure the length of the table x Number of tables = how many feet or meters you need. Then add 5% for a little overhang on each end. Usually, the rolls of banquet table covering are about 100 feet or 30.48 meters.
  • Round tables: Be sure to measure the size of the tables before going to your party store Toronto. You might want to get 1 or 2 extra in case there is a spill or somehow a few get damaged.

Have plenty of serving utensils on hand.

Imagine going to a beautiful table with food that looks out of this world delicious and having no way to get it out of the dish and onto your plate. Well, some people may be brave enough to willingly dig it out with their fingers. How embarrassing! So let’s not put the guests in that awkward place and have enough serving utensils on hand. It is good to make a list of all of the food that is going to be served and then next to each item list what you will use to serve it with. For example Bread – Tongs, Salad – Tongs, Butter—knife, you get the idea. You want to add a few more tongs and large spoons to your list for good measure. Sometimes they get dropped and there is not time to wash them right away. Here are a list few smaller items that usually get overlooked:

  • Scoop for the Ice
  • Small spoons to use for sugar, or other condiments
  • Small tongs for wedging fruits like lemons and limes

Catering a party or event requires good preparation and good planning. Having a good supplier is so helpful to make your event a success. You can find a good party store Toronto that will help your next event go off with a bang!
