Tata kite 5 vs Zest

Tata Motors is working on a sub four-meter sedan Kite 5 and it is expected to launch sometime in 2017. The car is being built on Tiago platform and this is among the most awaited launches packed with great design and rich interior décor and features. In 2014 the company introduced the Zest compact sedan and now for the important question, will the Kite 5 overshadow the popularity of Zest? Let us compare the two cars and find out.





Exterior:

Tata Kite 5 is engineered on XO platform of Indigo eCS, and the design inspiration is to build a sub-four-meter sedan that offers greater stability and exterior strength. From a visual point of view, Kite 5 looks amazing and it is known to have a better design than Indigo eCS. The design features that makes the car looks aesthetic are tail lights, wraparound headlights, wide honeycomb radiator grille and huge air intakes. Also watch out for the neatly sculpted window lines, chrome decoration on the boot lid and tapering roof-lines and these are inventive design features. The features present in the most loaded model is high-mounted LED stop lamp and alloy wheels.

Zest is engineered on an advanced X1 platform and this car looks classy to the core and sources have used a punch-line to describe the grand design of the car called ‘Confident Dynamism’. The styling of the grille is one of a kind and it has arty dual projector headlights covered with shiny chrome accents and this is the standard feature for all variants barring the base XE model. The most loaded car has LED daytime running lights and on the front bumper is double slat air dam and artistically sculpted triangle shaped fog lights.

Interior:

Tata Motors has designed the interior drawing inspiration from Zest visible on the instrument panel and dashboard and also three-spoke multi-function steering wheel and world-class 2Din eight speaker music system with Bluetooth, AUX, and USB connectivity. This car will have a new electric power steering and there is going to be ample interior space.

The interior of Zest looks grand covered in a vibrant Latte and Java Black color theme and the quality of seat cover is top-class. The styling of the dashboard is great and there is a three-spoke tilt adjustable electric power steering. The new instrument panel is reliable and it displays needed information like in-gear indicator, gear shift, segmented multi-info display, light-off and key-in reminder with a buzzer, individual door-open display, digital fuel gauge, fuel consumption display, and distance to empty info. The most loaded XT car has ambient temperature display. There is a five-inch touchscreen system with advanced Map my India next-gen navigation and this feature is present in the most loaded XT car. The standard feature across all variants is air conditioner with heater, and the base XE car does not have an electric adjustment for outer rear view mirrors and rear power windows. The comfort features present are rear parking sensors, fully automatic temperature control, rear defogger and these features are present in the most-loaded XT model. The other features to take note of is vanity mirror, height adjustable driver’s seat and adjustable rear headrest.

Engine and mileage:

Tata Kite 5 is engineered with a robust 1.2-liter Revotron petrol mill that yields fierce energies of 140Nm and 84bhp. The diesel vehicle will be built with a potent three-cylinder 1.0-liter turbo engine that pumps out 140Nm and 69bhp. The two engines are coupled with five-speed manual transmission. The expected mileage of the petrol car is 23.84km/l and the diesel car is likely to yield 27.28km/l.

Tata Zest is sold with diesel and petrol engines; the petrol car is constructed with a highly efficient 1.2-liter Revotron engine engineered with an advanced Multi-point fuel injection technology. This mill yields 140Nm and 88.7bhp.

Zest diesel runs on an effective 1.3-liter MJD engine that yields power energy outputs in the range of 73.9 and 88.7bhp. The base XE car generates energy outputs of 190Nm and 73.9bhp and it is connected to the five-speed manual gearbox. The fuel-efficiency of diesel Zest is 19.2kmpl and the petrol car gives 13.2kmpl.

Safety:

Tata Motors is engineering the Kite 5 with full-end security fitments to offer maximum possible protection. The security fittings on the most loaded car are corner stability control, electronic brakeforce distribution, anti-lock braking system and dual airbags.

The entry level Zest has a highly innovative immobilizer system, the XMA and XM models have electronic brake force distribution, anti-lock brake system, rear and front fog lights, and speed dependent auto door lock. The most loaded XT car has an inventive Perimetric alarm system that alerts owners on any kind of danger.

Price:




The expected price range of Tata Kite 5 is Rs 4 to 5 lakhs and the Zest is priced at Rs 5 to 8.73 lakhs.

Tata Motors is working on its second compact sedan Kite 5 and this forthcoming car is filled with new design and impressive interiors. Zest was introduced in 2014 August and this car has class-rending exterior design and magnificent interiors. The two cars have powerful engines, and Kite 5 will offer superior mileage power.

Kite 5 is expected to have sufficient safety features to offer top-class occupant protection, and Zest has excellent safety features as well. Is the Kite 5 going to overpower Zest in terms of popularity, design wise both models are spectacular, but Zest is just unbeatable. Also, Kite 5 is more reasonably priced and we will have to wait longer to avail more intriguing details.

Tata Motors has created an overload of excitement in the compact sedan market with Zest, and the Kite 5 is going to launch sometime in 2017. This is going to be the perfect car for individuals who desire feature richness, safety, and power for an economical price. Now for the interesting question, which is a better model to buy Kite 5 or Zest, for now, Zest certainly out beats Kite 5. It is possible than Kite 5 might sell in higher numbers than Zest, we will have to wait for launch and then come to a conclusion.
